Korngold. Piano Quintet op. 15
Sixty groundbreaking years separate the works of Wilhelm Stenhammar, the mainstay of Swedish music, and Eduard Tubin, a newcomer to the Swedish music scene in the second half of the 20th century. The events and developments that took place in the first half of the century led to a stalemate in the romantic style of music based on German-Austrian traditions, in the spirit of which grew Erich Korngold, a former child prodigy of Vienna. What choices do people have in the second half of the twentieth century? How to stay mentally healthy and confident in difficult circumstances, and what is the role of music in this? Joonas Hellerma and his guest Peeter Torop are looking for answers.
In cooperation with the Estonian Semiotics Society. The concert belongs to the “Juri Lotman 100” jubilee programme.
